About Nevis

Nevis, affectionately referred to as the “Queen of the Caribbean,” is located 17°9.17'N, 62°34.97'W. The island is 36 square miles (93 square kilometres), and approximately 7 miles long and 5 miles wide of unspoilt, and sophisticated beauty.

Nevis is situated near the top of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, about 200 miles south of Puerto Rico, and just west of Antigua. The island lies two miles southeast of Saint Kitts across “The Narrows” channel, and together, comprise the independent twin island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis (also referred to as the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis).

Nevis Peak identifies the centre of the island, rising to 3,232 feet (985 m), and flanked by the lower Round Hill (1,014 feet) on the north and by Saddle Hill (1,850 feet) on the south.

Nevis is accessible from the USA, Canada and Europe. Same day arrival from the United States can be achieved via Antigua, St Maarten, Puerto Rico and St Kitts.

The island boasts accommodation at the Caribbean’s only five diamond Four Seasons Resort and historical plantation inns.

The official language of Nevis is English, with an estimated resident population of 10,000.

The official currency of Nevis is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar. The United States Dollar is however widely used and accepted.
