Michelle is a Senior Associate in the Firm and practices in both areas of general litigation and general corporate and commercial transactional matters. Her main focus areas include banking and finance law, trusts and estate matters, company law, insurance law including international insurance, family law, general commercial matters, shipping, contract law, tort and personal injury matters. Michelle also assists clients in arbitration proceedings and other forms of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms including mediation.

She has a client base which includes local and international banks, corporations, non-profit companies, liquidators, high net-worth individuals, trustees, and government entities.

She has experience in matters ranging from winding up and dissolution of offshore companies, obtaining court orders for the appointment of receivers, obtaining worldwide freezing injunctions, setting aside fraudulent transfers of property, providing capacity opinions, reviewing and advising on energy related transactions, and has prepared expert evidence for use in multijurisdictional proceedings relating to fraudulent disposition of assets.

Michelle also has a thriving practice in the area of Maritime Law and Shipping which includes her regularly advising and rendering opinions on seafarers rights within the internal waters of St. Kitts and Nevis relating to trading, birthing and docking, bareboat charters and also attends to the registration of vessels, mortgages and discharge of mortgages over St. Kitts and Nevis Vessels and prepares associated transaction documents including Deeds of Covenants for mortgages.

She appears in matters before the Magistrate Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court St. Kitts and Nevis Circuits, and is known for advocating zealously and competently on behalf of her clients.

Michelle holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with Distinction from the University of London, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies, a Legal Education Certificate from the Council of Legal Education, graduating on the Principal’s Honour Roll from the Norman Manley Law School in Kingston Jamaica, and is also a Notary Public in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Michelle is a former State Scholar of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and currently serves on the Board of Directors for primary and tertiary level educational institutions in St. Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad & Tobago, and as an Associate Tutor at the Norman Manley Law School, Jamaica.

In 2023, Michelle was elected to the distinguished office of President of the Nevis Island Assembly with responsibility for managing the business and proceedings of the house and maintaining order in the Assembly.
